Forgive Them Because They Don't Understand

I'll kick things off with Luke 23:34. Jesus knew as He was being mocked and ridiculed and humiliated on the Cross that those crucifying Him didn't really understand He was who He said He was. If they really believed that, I'm sure they wouldn't have been acting that way.

God wants us to forgive others for the hurtful things they have done to us because He has decided to forgive us for the things we have done against Him(sin) if we accept Jesus as both our Lord and Savior. He actually requires that we forgive others (Matthew 6:14-15).

If you think about it, if people could actually see into your mind in the moment or could see into the future how their actions will change the course of your life and result in the pain and sadness we go through, I really don't think people would do the things they do. They just don't know for the most part. They don't really understand what is happening in the spiritual realm when they are speaking certain things or doing certain things against you. The next time you find yourself troubled by someone and find the thought of having to forgive them as difficult, consider that they probably wouldn't be doing that if they really knew.
